Description

About Us Blue Channel Therapy (BCT) was founded 6 years ago to address severe, ongoing gaps in services for children who have survived trauma, especially for low-income families. Blue Channel Therapy has 3 offices in Arvada, Aurora and Northglenn. We implemented a strong training program to develop and train therapists to help meet Colorado's high need for therapists/counselors who treat trauma and are culturally competent to serve low-income families. We are highly motivated to increase the diversity of therapists to meet the demand for more Spanish speaking, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ therapists. The mission of Blue Channel Therapy is to improve the quality of life for children, youth, and families through affordable, high-quality mental health therapy provided by therapists and interns trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). Our vision is to reverse the impact that adverse childhood experiences have on current and future generations. The Opportunity We are seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission, supporting organizational sustainability, and contributing to strategic decision-making. We are especially interested in individuals who can strengthen the Board's capacity in fundraising, finance/budgeting, and action-oriented leadership. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a growing organization and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people affected by trauma Experience in one or more of the following areas is valuable: ● Fundraising ● Donor relations ● Philanthropy ● Community partnerships ● Relationship building and outreach What You’ll Gain As a member of our board, you’ll have the opportunity to: ● Be part of decreasing youth suicide and improving people’s quality of life. ● Be immersed in a supportive, welcoming, and mission-driven community. ● Develop or deepen leadership and governance skills. ● Work alongside other dedicated individuals committed to making a difference. ● Increase nonprofit management skills and knowledge. Meetings and time commitment The board of directors meets quarterly (January, April, July, October) on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. We meet virtually and try to keep the meeting length within one hour. Committee meetings are based on need and meet about 3-4 times per year. The board also participates in periodic fundraising activities. BCT board members commit to a 2 year term with the option to renew up to 2 times. Cohort Applicants We believe that poor/unacceptable behavior on the part of businesses and government disproportionately hurts the most marginalized people in society, including people of color, people from lower-income backgrounds, women, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disabilities. Because we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities. We recognize that being the only person with a specific identity on a board is not ideal, so we welcome paired cohort applications. This means two people would apply together, and if selected, both would join the board or decline together. How to Apply To express interest or learn more, please contact Maia Longenecker at maia@bluechanneltherapy.org.
